Ecumenical Relations - Compensation: 64,584 in New York, Iowa

This position will be the Church World Service (CWS) Immigration and Refugee Program (IRP) ecumenical representative in charge of soliciting, maintaining and expanding the church involvement in domestic resettlement and other programs of CWS/IRP. The incumbent will work with national communions, their congregations and CWS local offices to cultivate and promote church co-sponsorships, develop training materials and resources for network sponsorship developers and volunteers, assist with the planning and implementation of conferences and training events. Additionally, the incumbent will work to increase the support of CWS from local congregations, seek to build greater connections between CWS member denominations and the Immigration and Refugee Program, and provide leadership and direction for church consultations at CWS? domestic resettlement sites.  Strong coordination with Post-Arrival teams is crucial to the work of this position.
 
Essential Duties:
?       Develop and maintain strong relationships with CWS member communions and their local congregations supporting the work of Immigration and Refugee Program.
?       Build relationships with CWS member communions not currently active in IRP in order to build support for IRP and its local offices.
?       Assists with planning, preparation and implementation of church consultations and training events related to church sponsorship, volunteer involvement and program support at CWS conferences, trainings and local resettlement offices.
?       Coordinate with local offices for the involvement of local congregations.
?       Coordinate with national offices of CWS member communions.
?       In conjunction with national communions and local IRP offices, contact congregations concerning participation in the resettlement program.
?       Maintains contact with local CWS/IRP offices (related to sponsorship and denominational matters), church involvement persons and denominations.
?       Responsible for developing training materials and resources for network sponsorship developers.
?       Develop database tools to assist affiliates, sponsorship developers and denominations to collect and track church, co-sponsor and volunteer involvement.
?       Develop resources to assist with recruiting, training and supporting volunteers from local communities of faith.
?       Facilitate regular Denominational Working Group meetings and/or calls and serve as the staff resource person for the Immigration and Refugee Program Committee.
?       Attend relevant meetings, when requested.
?       Handle other duties as assigned.
 
Qualifications:
Education:
College degree or equivalent work experiences.
 
Experience:
Experience working with local congregations in co-sponsorship and resettlement of refugees. Knowledge of community organization and structure and church polity.  Knowledge and experience in working with excel, power point and database software is essential.  Strong writing skills are a must.
